Holiday

Image
This will be my last post for 2014 and here's a little somethin' somethin' on my two week camp holiday through the mountainous areas on the eastern side of the province. So the first place that we went to was Outshoorn side. It was a camp site called De Hoek or something like that. The place was okay I guess if you are those types of people who love being 'one with nature' and don't mind no signal and being in the middle of nowhere in between the moutains. While we were there in the area, we took a day to go to this farm type of park thing so that was pretty cool :) We took the time one day to drive to a place called 'The Hell'. It's not really about the actual place, its more about the journey. The mountain roads were so narrow and it felt like you were going to fall of the mountain if you breathe too much on one side of the 4X4. Our 2 and a half hour drive there I realized why they called it 'The Hell', there's nothin...

Tell It Like It Is | Side Chicks

Image
Side Chicks are totally bad and can ruin your relationship. But, guys, we know you most of you want one. I'm not giving any scientific facts, I'm simply just stating what we were all thinking anyway. Nobody wants to be someone's side chick, am I right? If you think of it, it's not all bad being a side chick (I'm not saying this from experience). I know, who would ever think that being a side chick is actually great? But, seriously, just take the time to think of it. You get the main chick and the side chick. The main chick is the actual girlfriend that everyone knows about and your Instagram selfie buddy with the hashtag #InstaCouple. But then you get the side chick. Not everyone knows about her, probably not even your main chick. But your side chick knows she's your side chick. Okay, so I'm guessing that didn't really convince you that being a side chick is better than the main chick, its probably not. But it has its perks. Metaphorical example: Le...

Bridal Showers & Hair Flowers

Image
It was my cousin's Bridal Shower recently and we had an Hawaiian themed shower for her. Everyone had to wear white with colourful accessories and were all treated with colourful flower necklaces.(Yes, I did feel quite rebel with my black tulle skirt on). Everything was so colourful and being the basic b*tches we are, it was obviously a very instagrammable day. The natural light that day was so amazing and the amount of selfies we took was uncountable. Thank you selfie stick.  My flower crown was made by my friend, Tasneem (I don't think she knows that I have it). It was perfect for this occasion. With all the flower crowns and selfies, our inner white girls came out and we 'literally couldn't even'.  The highlight of the day was definitely the belly dancing. We had so much fun attempting to 'shimmy' as the belly dancing instructor would say. So, yes, it was a very eventful day with all the fun games, even though our selfie game was stronger than any other ga...

Lifestyle Tip | #InstaFame

Image
Everyone wants to be famous in some sort of way whether we admit it or not. Especially here in South Africa, where it is probably the most difficult place in the world to be if you are trying to get your name out there. I actually take my hat off to those teenagers who try. I mean, seriously, there are teens that are starting their own baking business, starting bands, starting their own fashion line, auditioning for SA's Got Talent or even SA Idols if they have the guts. This surely makes me feel like I'm proudly South African to see how many of these teens go through extream lengths without giving up in order to become well known. Now with social media taking over our eventful lives, more teenagers and young adults, or even children these days, tend towards social media as a means of becoming famous. Nowadays, these selfie obsessed humans are constantly trying to gain more and more followers on Instagram. Why? Well, this is the closest thing to fame as they will get. So, I h...

Celebrity Style Crush | Jessica Alba

Image
Okay, I normally don't talk about clothes and fashion and all those other shenanigans, but I felt the need to share my love for Jessica Alba's style. So, Jessica Alba is known for her 'effortlessly cool' on-the-go look. I know this may sound weird, but I love how comfortable she always looks! I know that it's peculiar that I am a 17 year old crushing over a 33 year old mom's style, but throughout the years, Jessica never disappoints. Here are a few of my favorite things about Jessica's style: 1. Effortless 2. Skirts 3. Blazers 4. Scarves 5. Leather Jacket Basically, I love how Jessica can wear all these different pieces but work it into looking effortlessly chic. And the one thing I admire most about Alba, that I also live by, is that she hates it when people tell her what to wear. And when I say 'people' I mean the media, society, and those fashion peer pressurers. She wears ...

Finals.

Image
We have all been waiting for this but secretly dreading it. Or is it the other way around? Yes, FINALS. Who knew that this six letter word would mean so much to our 18 year old minds. Or in my case, 17, but anyway that's not the point. So we are technically not part of school anymore, we just come in to write, then go home. But we still have to obey the rules. Makes sense? Naah? Yeah, whatever.  Everyone is probably giving you all kinds of tips and advice on finals and stress and stuff, so here's more: • Drink lot's of herbal tea such as rooibos and great tea.  • Eat lots of fruit, especially when you're like me and don't believe in any vitiman tablets.  • Don't take any drugs! Drugs, as in that stuff that keeps you awake so you can study longer. • That brings me to my next point, make sure you get the right amount of sleep. • Stay away from sugary edibles and snack on something healthy such as almonds (my fave). • Stick with your study schedule if you have...

Matric Breakfast

Image
To be honest, all I remember eating at Matric Breakfast was strawberries. And pears. Lots and lots of pears. But anyhoo, it was kind of pretty amazing seeing my grade in something other than school uniform for once. Matric Breakfast actually makes me realize how little time we actually have together. We might not admit it, but we are hectically in love with each other. Unconditionally. Technically, we have a week left of seeing each others faces everyday. After our 2 hour breakfast and selfie session our grade did this cute thing and walked to the forest around the corner from our school. Whoever said that the forest is around the corner should be thrown with a porcupine. My feet are what us teenagers say "in it's chops". Maybe it's because we took the wrong route and ended up hiking through the wrong forest (Thanks Melissa ). But yeah, we had fun. Stay fabulous ❤ -Tharaah

40 Days

Image
40 more days, okay. it's technically 37 more days (what's up with my school only wanting to have special events on a Friday?). But anyway, 40 days of actual school days. For the rest of our lives. Let that sink in. So at school we had to dress "Business Formal". May I add how fabulous everyone looked. The best part about 40 days? The after events. And no, I did not go to that sophisticated after party where all the Matrics were at. Instead I went out for the day with my friendimentals. I know, who makes a blog post about going out for the day with your friends? I clearly don't get out of the house much. I'm probably looking for an excuse to post the pictures. OMG, I have to mention, The Ugly Diet totally worked! I could see who tried it and who didn't. Information about The Ugly Diet is in my previous post BTW. I'm actually going to miss my grade :( -Tharaah
