Finals.

We have all been waiting for this but secretly dreading it. Or is it the other way around?
Yes, FINALS.

Who knew that this six letter word would mean so much to our 18 year old minds. Or in my case, 17, but anyway that's not the point. So we are technically not part of school anymore, we just come in to write, then go home. But we still have to obey the rules. Makes sense? Naah? Yeah, whatever.

Everyone is probably giving you all kinds of tips and advice on finals and stress and stuff, so here's more:

• Drink lot's of herbal tea such as rooibos and great tea.
• Eat lots of fruit, especially when you're like me and don't believe in any vitiman tablets.
• Don't take any drugs! Drugs, as in that stuff that keeps you awake so you can study longer.
• That brings me to my next point, make sure you get the right amount of sleep.
• Stay away from sugary edibles and snack on something healthy such as almonds (my fave).
• Stick with your study schedule if you have one. You better have one, it's the first time I made a study schedule and it totally makes my life way easier.
• Exercising is a must. Once a week is enough just to get your mind free of stress.
• I read somewhere that if you're having trouble memorizing your work, mix a cup of milk and a teaspoon of honey and warm it in the microwave until its nice and warm and drink it. I'm very superstitious, don't blame me.
• I also read online that if you sleep with your book under your pillow, you will know the whole book out of your head. I tried this once, it gave me an A on my Geography test, and very sore neck.
• The night before you write make sure that you are prepared to write. Don't forget your ID, because you never know, they might not believe that you are yourself that day.
• Stay hydrated, so drink lot's of water but stay away from soft drinks and sugary juices.

And there is probably a lot more that I missed, but basically I think I covered most of them. And don't be such a goody-too-shoes, live life on the edge and have a sweet now and then and a glass of cool drink once a week just to show life what a badass you are. Also, my friend gave me this really cool box with study snacks in, and it's not only delicious but it's like a source of motivation, if that makes sense. So do yourself a favour and make your own cute little study snack box, or make it for someone else that you know in Matric, it  would mean so much to them.

Matric 2014, let's do this.
