Last First Day of High School
I honestly cannot fathom.
I...just...can't...even.
My High School career is coming to an end this year. The last year of high school. Matric. Seniors. Whatever you want to call it.
There are no words to describe how I am feeling right now. Excited for the year ahead, nervous for the work load. So many mixed emotions that I can't put my sentences together.
So the last first day of high school everyone in matric realises that whatever happens at school during the year, it will be the last time they will experience it. This makes us really want to appreciate every moment this year.
The morning of the last first day, the matrics anxiously check to see who their homeroom teacher is. Luckily, our class (12D) got Mrs. Bezuidenhout, probably the best teacher in the entire school. She always knows how to keep up the class spirit, which is something our class has always lacked. I was scared at first that our class will ruin her, since we have ruined every single homeroom teacher we had since grade 8. No, our class isn't naughty, we just have an extravagant personality :)
This teacher, she is amazing. I would know since I was in her biology class last year. She knows how to handle any situation and any type of student. As I said, our class has always lacked class spirit, it's not that we hate each other, we just dont contribute to anything thats happening at school. But I know our class loves eachother, whether we admit it or not, we are crazy about one another. Yes, it took time to accept everyones personality, but we eventually grew onto eachother. Just as any other class would have, we have the nerds, the bitches, the plastics, the attention seekers, the 'I dont care', the introvert, the list goes on. We never labelled us as 'the best class' throughout high school, the other classes in our grade were always in competition with eachother. Honestly, our class couldn't care a damn. We never worried about being the best class. We just wanted to have fun! Who's there to prove it to anyway? The other grades? Please, we dont need judgement from other grades to determine how much fun we are having.
I can already picture how insane 2014 is going to be. So many suprises, so much stress. I'm excited.
Matric 2014, may the odds be ever in your favour.
