Matricball
Apparently Matricball is suppose to be the highlight of your matric year. I have never wanted to think of it in that way, because you never know, it might be a heck of fail and you'll be depressed for the rest of the year.
On Friday, the 25th of April, we had our Matricball. And I can only say one thing about it:
IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!
Our matricball ended up to be better than I ever imagined♥
I've never made a big deal about the matricball, since I wasn't really sure if I could actually go. I only knew last minute that I can go, so it was kind of a rush making the dress, deciding on accessories , etc.
My dress, that my amazing grandma made, came out really nice, if I do say so myself. When I looked at the finished product, I couldn't believe that this was done in under a week. My colour was exactly the one I wanted. I wasn't too sure about the material choice at first, because having a full lace dress was not even on my list of options, but it ended up to be probably better than what my original idea would've been. I felt like a mermaid ♥ And the dress was so comfortable, I could dance whole night.
I don't think I had the full-on matricball experience as the other students in my grade, since I did not make any hair, make-up or manicure appointments. My nails were clean and naked. My cousin, Zahrah, did my hair and make-up. I'm actually really happy that she did it because I don't think it would of looked any better if a make-up artist and hairdresser had to do it.
My make-up was probably my favourite part of the whole matricball look. It was so natural, but not too plain. It stayed on whole night, when I came home after 6 hours of wearing the make-up, it still looked fresh!!! I think I was so obsessed with my make-up that night because I never wear make-up. And I was paranoid about wearing eye shadow, since eye shadow never looks right on my face, but my cousin used her amazing skills so that it actually looks nice on my face. I should probably get me eye shadow now. I can't wait until another important event so that she can do my hair and make-up again ♥
Another thing that made me not have a full-on matricball experience, is that I didn't have a partner, and I never wore heels. I know what you're thinking: "THARAAH, HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE A PARTNER OR WEAR HEELS? THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS!!!"
I might disagree, since my night was amazing without any of those!
Our venue was the CTICC, it was an amazing place, even though I thought the backgrounds of the photobooths were a bit corny. The food was delicious, but I was dancing so much, I couldn't finish my dessert :(
Everything was so professional there, the waitresses hand you your fork and knife and pour your drinks for you. Okay, that might seem normal, but I'm honestly not used to people doing stuff like that for me.
I danced until the last minute, seriously, we were like the last people to leave the venue. I had so much fun, and so far, this was the highlight of my matric year.
Everyone looked beautiful♥ It's weird seeing my grade out of school all dressed up with make-up on. I'm used to seeing them with their dirty hair pulled back wearing uniform.
So, my matricball could not have been any better. It was perfect. My cousins that were in matric last year told me that the matricball would be so fun once you get to the venue. I convinced myself that I wouldn't enjoy myself. But I must admit, they were so right. Now I feel like them, telling my younger cousins how they will enjoy themselves at the matricball.
Who needs a partner, heels, make-up, hair dresser and manicure appointments for matricball?
I don't regret not having any of those. My matricball was the best night ever. Thanks to everyone who made it possible ♥ [I want another matricball]
