Here's my review on a body lotion that EVERYONE recommended.

Hi.

I'm back.

And I'm ready to be a REAL blogger. With reviews and outfits and opinions and shi'.

Brands, hit me up.

Ok, enough of that. On this post, I will be doing a review on Lush's Dream Cream. But before I do, let me give you a little back story:

I have dry skin.
And when I say I have dry skin I mean I HAVE DRY SKIN. I actually physically cannot do anything in life until my skin is moisturised and I ALWAYS have to keep moisturiser on me.

For those who follow me on Instagram (@raahcozy) will perhaps know I tend to share a bit too much of my skin problems on my instastories. It's basically me just complaining about how dry my skin is. And to make this situation even better (not), I have eczema. I have had eczema for as long as I can remember. And yes, If you suffer from eczema you'll know how helpfully annoying it is when EVERYONE recommends an ointment that's GOING TO CURE your eczema forever. Let's be real. Yes, for some (maybe even most) people that suffer from eczema, they will get eczema, buy an ointment, and will NEVER get eczema again. Some people are born with eczema, they go to a dermatologist, get a special cream made for them, and it works, yay, they are cured. And they truly believe that this specific ointment works, and yes, it may work for some people.

Me, on the other hand, my eczema is, always has been and always will be, here forever. It has months where it's not as bad, and months where it is unbearable. The transition between winter and spring is the worst for my skin. So August/September, I hate existing.

Ok now that we are all caught up, I always get recommendations from followers that DM me on Instagram and the number 1 recommendation for my eczema was the Dream Cream from Lush. I've gotten probably over 30 people that messaged me on how amazing this is. I'm talking essays from people sharing their stories on how it literally saved their life. And those odd "uhm why don't you just use the Dream Cream from Lush?" as if I'm stupid not to use it.

This must be REALLY GOOD if  so many people are praising it. I've done some research and it turns out that the Dream Cream is Lush's BEST cream they have. It's their #1 bestseller and I haven't come across any bad reviews. It's rated a 4.8/5 and when I google "Lush Dream Cream" this is what pops up:

So yes, It's known for its amazing eczema healing qualities.

I was sold.

Within a week after researching, I went to Lush to purchase this product. It was R245 for a 240g, which for me, is expensive for moisturiser but I thought, hey, I have this problem, maybe this is my answer. Keep in mind, I have never purchased any creams from lush before this, the only thing I use from Lush normally is their face masks. (The Cup o' Coffee is my favourite mask ever!). The lady working at Lush told me that it won't heal my eczema but it will soothe and cool it, allowing your skin to heal itself.
It made sense.

Okay, so I should've been realistic about this and asked for a sample but I was so convinced that it will definitely work, that I was too excited and bought the entire 240g.

I finally got the chance to use it. I applied it to my eczema areas, which are around my eyes, my neck (its the worst on my neck) and my upper lip area.

WOW.

I HATED IT SO MUCH.

It made my skin burn so much I cried and wanted to rip my skin off.

I was so confused. Why was everyone recommending this? Why was I the only one feeling this burning sensation on my skin? It wasn't getting red or physically irritated, but it was definitely the most uncomfortable burn that I have ever felt from a moisturiser. On the tub, it does say hand and body lotion, so I thought OK, maybe it's not meant for your face. But even then, it still makes zero sense. It's made for sensitive skin. I was so upset. I could've rather spent that R245 on something else go on a shopping spree at Cinnabon.

I still had hope and I decided to continue using it. I wouldn't use any other moisturiser during this time as I really wanted a true review and result.

After using it for about a week, the burn started to go away and it worked out just fine. I would use it at least 3 times a day, or whenever I wash my face during the day.

It's been a month later after using it and the product is almost done. I can now give my final review and say:

I actually
don't
get
the hype.

Does it work?
Well, yes, as a moisturiser.
Did it cure my eczema and change my life?
Hell no. My eczema has been doing better than what it did, but its been a month. I mean, it's October, my skin usually gets better during this time anyway.

I don't know why exactly I am literally the only person on this planet that thinks this cream is the most average thing in the world. For the record, it is really moisturising. But eh, nothing really special. Remember though, everyone's skin is different, this might be the lotion that works perfectly for you.

I just realised that this is probably the most unnecessary review ever.

See ya,
RaahCozy
